Yes it's true... not just a rumor. Fly Fishing in Salt Waters Magazine will be no more. It was one of my favorite purchases from the newsstand. It will truly be missed.
I went last week for my yearly pilgrimage to Mountain Home, AR with my good friend Glen "Catch" Cormier. We caught many trout Wednesday thru Friday and attended the Southern Council of the FFF Fair. We had great fishing, good weather, wonderful food and an enjoyable time catching up with old friends at the Fair.
This year was a first, we had a dead heat for 1st place. Congrats to Peter Hopkins and Stephen Robert both landed 9 3/4" MONSTER Rios.
2nd - Pete Bongiovanni with an 8 1/2" Rio 3rd - Sean Gilthorpe 7 3/4" 4th - Joe Bandera 7 1/2" 5th - Bill DeCastro 6 3/4"
Congrats to all!
A special shout out to the Green Trout Fly Shop, Puglia's Sporting Goods for the prizes and the New Orleans Fly Fisher's tying group and Stephen Robert for tying some fantastic flies. Couldn't have done it without you.
Pete Cooper, Jr., one of the pioneers of fly fishing in Louisiana and author of Fly Fishing the Louisiana Coast, Redfish and Fly Fish for Specs has released a brand new book. I just got my copy of The Art of Creek Fly Fishing today. If this book is like his other offerings, it's going to be a winner! I'll have a book review soon. Pete's book is sold exclusively on Amazon.com.
Book Description:
A number of books on creek fishing for bass have been published over the
past years, but none of them are like this one. Herein you will find
book-learning, humorous entertainment, and a little soul. And you should
come away from it with the ability to crack the code to successfully
fishing these little gems – and, perhaps, to appreciate them and their
surroundings for the gems that they indeed are.
